New electrical systems at Diamond Resorts International® Wychnor Park Country Club

Wychnor Park Country Club's grade-2 listed Great Hall has been the focus of Mace’s latest local electrical contract.

The Burton-based contractor won the work at the 55-acre estate, operated by Diamond Resorts International®, near Barton under Needwood, to project manage a complete upgrading of the electrical installation and associated works in the building which dates from the Queen Anne period.

The works are contained within the three floors of the main house and combine electrical and building refurbishment in the reception, bar, library, corridors, staircases and Somerville Restaurant, which offers a la carte and table d'hote English menus.

“Our latest contracts have expanded, to include project management of multi-trade works at larger premises”, pointed out Simon Chapman, Mace’s MD.

“The client was impressed by our recent five figure contracts, for example, with Bristol Street Motors. Whilst it is in a different category of works, it clearly flagged up the all-round expertise of our engineers”.

Working with the team at Wychnor Park Country Club, Mace has established a schedule of works that will minimise any potential disruption to guests; and to the operation of the resort, one of the most frequently visited Diamond Resorts International® destinations in this country.

Guests stay at Wychnor under the The Club® scheme, which is a flexible, points-based exchange programme, providing members with opportunities to enjoy a variety of top-class destinations and gain much more than from traditional ownership of a holiday home.

Extensive, high-quality electrical and related works in the main reception will see Mace engineers completing detailed upgraded installations that will match those in any five-star hotel and be to international standards for the foreign guests who regularly visit the Country Club.

“Typical of our works, will be the enhanced electrical and state-of-the art related systems, for management of this country retreat”, added Simon Chapman.

“But to guests, the only visible change will be the traditional oak style reception that will remain fully in keeping with the interior of the 16th century house and its light contemporary decor, modern furnishings, and patterned fabrics. Guests will find it difficult to spot our works which is just as it should be. However, we don’t mind pointing out the new electrical fittings and accessories as evidence of our installations”.

Mace engineers have recently been recognised for their professional work on important and historic buildings with the contractor’s success in winning The Burton Mail Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, Award 2010; and the Highly Commended Award in the Construction News Awards Sustainability category as Specialist Contractor of the Year.
