Wychnor Park Country Club with its grade-2 listed Great Hall has been the focus of Mace Midlands latest contract in Staffordshire.
The Burton-based contractor won the work at the 55-acre estate, operated by Diamond Resorts International®, near Barton under Needwood, following its successful completion of upgrading to the electrical installations and associated works in the main building, which dates from the Queen Anne period.
The works in this second phase, undertaken at this highly-regarded resort hotel by Mace, were focused on extensive electrical works in the high-spec Leisure Centre at the Country Club, with its own 25m swimming pool, exercise and changing rooms.
To enable the Centre to re-open on schedule, the Mace team completed their works, to the luxurious Reception and Lobby areas, within the planned three-weeks.
In the Leisure Centre adjoining the 5-star Resort hotel, which caters for all levels of fitness training and exercise, Mace completed installation low-energy consumption electrical fittings and systems as well as security and fire alarms.
“This latest contract at Wychnor with its extensive works and project management of different trades, at larger premises, illustrates the continued expansion of this business”, added Simon Chapman, Mace Midland’s MD.
“The entire project was completed in the planned four weeks and is an excellent example of our wide capability to plan, manage and deliver contracts in new markets”.
Working with the team at Wychnor Park Country Club, Mace established a schedule of works that minimised any potential disruption to guests; and to the operation of the resort, one of the most frequently visited Diamond Resorts International® destinations in this country.
“The client had been impressed by our recent five figure contracts, for example, with Bristol Street Motors. Whilst it is in a different category of works, it clearly flagged up the all-round expertise of our engineers”, remarked Martyn Brocklesby, Mace Midlands Project Manager for these works.
Guests stay at Wychnor under the THE Club® scheme, which is a flexible, points-based exchange programme, providing members with opportunities to enjoy a variety of top-class destinations and gain much more than from traditional ownership of a holiday home.
The extensive, high-quality electrical and related works in the Leisure Centre completed by Mace engineers match those undertaken in any five-star hotel; and are to the international standards expected by foreign guests who regularly visit the Country Club.
“Typical of our works, will be the enhanced electrical and state-of-the art related systems at this country retreat”, added Simon Chapman.
“Guests will find it difficult to spot our works which is just as it should be. However, we don’t mind pointing out the new electrical fittings and accessories as evidence of our installations”.
Mace electrical and security engineers have recently been recognised for their professional work on important and historic buildings with the contractor’s success in winning The Birmingham Post’s Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, Award 2011 at a special event for the top category winners, hosted by the paper’s editor Alun Throne.
This major West Midlands award topped the Highly Commended Award to Mace Midlands in the Construction News Awards Sustainability category as ‘Specialist Contractor of the Year’.
